Cockatiels

Cockatiels are found just about everywhere.  Known for their crests and whistles, they are a great family pet.  Cockatiels can live up to 25 years and tend to be fairly low maintenance.  In general these birds are not talkers but occasionally can learn to say one or two things, in their best voice.  Cockatiels are best known for their whistling ability and often learn to whistle a variety of songs.

Cockatiels are not necessarily hands on birds, but over time can learn to allow their human companions to pet them.  In general Cockatiels require less out of the cage time than many other parrots but it is still important to provide them opportunities to explore and play.

Cockatiels have special dietyary needs and require a mineral stone in their cage if they are to remain happy.
